The Rotary Club of Fairfax named a ShelterBox HERO!

Rotarians Ronald Hubbard and Art Gose visited the eldest member of the Rotary Club of Fairfax. John is 96 years old and was in the Army that was at Normandy Beach in World War II. He has not missed a meeting with the Club for over 60 years. They had a good conversation with John and his wife Sara for about an hour. John told them a couple of stories about being born and raised at Jermantown Road & Route 50. He has lived in the Oakton area since his birth.

The teachers were honored at a small, in-person event on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at which each received their plaques and a $1,000 check.

Irby Hollans (Nov. 3, 1930 - Apr. 1, 2019) was our club's Executive Director for 25 years. He was the oil our club's machine and kept all of us on track. He was a true Rotarian and exemplified our motto of "Service Above Self" to the very end. Rest in Peace, Irby.
